Farmer’s market driven independent concept is preparing to open a second location and is seeking talented Sous Chefs to join the team. Both concepts are dinner only, a la carte restaurants that celebrate California cuisine through the lens of Southern French technique. Ideal candidates are inspired by seasonality, embrace creativity, and are excited to assist in the execution of thoughtful menus that showcase the freshest offerings from the farmer’s market each week.
Executive Chef Responsibilities:
- Support the execution ever evolving a la carte menu based on farmer’s market inspiration and availability
- Train and collaborate closely with Executive Chef and ownership
- Provide leadership and mentorship to culinary team
- Assist in leading a kitchen that promotes teamwork, representation, performance feedback, recognition, and mutual respect
- Assist the Executive Chef in purchasing, receiving, and inventory of all kitchen items
- Provide employees and staff with proper training on all recipes as well as maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and organization
Executive Chef Skills/Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar position (Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Executive Sous Chef)
- Passion for food and guest experience!
- Fine dining experience in chef-driven restaurants with a priority to Michelin, James Beard, or World’s Top 50 Best backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion
- Experience in food cost, labor cost, menu costing
- Active ServSafe Management Food Safety Certificate
- Dedication to excellent food quality and ensuring compliance with all health and safety, and safe food handling practices
- A flexible schedule. Mornings, nights, weekends and holidays are required
Compensation Package Includes:
- Salary in the $80k-85k range, depending on experience
