Modern new Japanese-inspired restaurant is debuting! The team is looking for a talented Executive Chef to design a progressive, ingredient-driven, izakaya-style menu that will also feature a contemporary sushi program, but the main star will be the vibrant izakaya experience of sharing small plates. This will be an aesthetically gorgeous new concept backed by a growing restaurant group. Looking for an Executive Chef with extensive prior Japanese cuisine to lead the opening. Press potential!
Executive Chef Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership on opening of restaurant – including kitchen design, flow, menu engineering, hiring, and opening timeline
- Train, develop and mentor the culinary team to grow to their highest potential
- Foster a positive, professional environment with care, dignity, fairness, respect, and recognition amongst the team
- Oversee all administrative items and delegate where fit: ordering, inventory, scheduling, cost controls
- Design initial menu and continue to evolve with seasons as well as guest tastes
- Follow best practices and uphold high standards for safety and sanitation in the kitchen
Executive Chef Preferred Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef or Chef de Cuisine
- Background in chef-driven, respected Japanese or Japanese-inspired Cal-Asian restaurants
- Passion for working in scratch kitchens with fresh ingredients
- Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities: team focused, and people driven
- Lead-by-example mentality with the ability to motivate others
- Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety
- Expert knowledge in P&Ls with extensive experience in managing inventory and cost controls
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, and on holidays
