Chef – Intimate Innovative Opening

Acclaimed Michelin-starred chef is seeking a talented Chef and Sous Chef for the launch of their new one-of-a-kind project in LA. This will be dinner only and in an intimate space (>50 seats). The ideal chefs are creative professionals who value innovation, precision, and leadership, while thriving in a high-caliber environments. 

A background in respected ingredient-driven kitchens, Michelin, or James Beard recognized, is required.

Chef Responsibilities:

  • Develop hyper seasonal menus in collaboration with Chef Owner
  • Provide exemplary leadership to the team in close collaboration with both Chef Owner and FOH team
  • Oversee kitchen execution ensuring all food meets the highest standards of quality and consistency
  • Proactively manage costs and budgets
  • Maintain proper ordering, inventory and scheduling
  • Follow and implement best practices for safety and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Sous Chef to assist with above responsibilities and provide support to Chef and Chef Owner

Chef Preferred Requirements:

  • Live fire experience (such as wood burning oven or hearth) preferred
  • Passion for the culinary industry and genuine zeal for ingredients – not just working with the best possible product, but sourcing 
  • CHEF – 2+ years of experience in a similar position (Executive Chef, Senior Sous Chef, CDC) in a respected modern fine dining, Michelin-starred, World’s 50 Best, or James Beard recognized restaurant
  • SOUS CHEF – 3+ years in a leadership capacity as a Sous Chef or 1 year as an Executive Sous Chef in acclaimed kitchens, ideally Michelin, World’s 50 Best or James Beard level
  • For the Chef, a knowledge of administrative functions and understanding of food & labor costs
  • High level of organization, precision and attention to detail
  • Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Salary is entirely dependent on experience.
    • Chefs – $90-110k with flexibility to come up to $120k for someone with a strong recent track record in Michelin or James Beard award winning concepts 
    • Sous Chef – $75-85k range
