Beverage Director – High-Profile Restaurant Opening Los Angeles CA
Salary: $90000 – $110000
Award winning dining group is launching an exciting new project in LA, and they are looking for a creative, experienced Beverage Director! This is an exciting role that will spearhead the curation and ongoing development of the wine & beverage program, while supporting opening activities across all beverage channels. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of global wines, high-end spirits, and food & beverage pairings in a fine dining setting. Looking for candidates with a high service pedigree and preferably an extensive background in Michelin and/or James Beard recognized concepts. This role will also be responsible for ordering, inventory, tastings, ongoing training/education of staff, and maintaining a presence on the floor during service as needed. Excellent training skills, impeccable guest service, and a track record of creating successful cocktail & beverage programs is essential!
Beverage Director Responsibilities:
- Research and develop a fresh, creative, and inspired wine & beverage program in line with the overall vision and values of the concept
- Establish operating procedures for successful beverage programming pre-opening
- Oversee all aspects of beverage program execution once the restaurant is open
- Receive, stock, and inventory wine and liquor
- Strong knowledge of Food & Beverage pairings in a fine dining setting
- Recruiting, hiring, and training of new beverage team members and sommeliers
- Ongoing development and training of team members to ensure growth, knowledge, and professionalism
- Cost Management
- Develop a positive relationship with guests to maintain guest retention
- Contribute to creating and fostering a positive, high-end working environment
- Willingness to work behind the bar and be present on the floor as required
- Ensure consistency and cleanliness of bar and bar program
- Develop programs/methods to increase efficiency of bar operations
- Resolving customer complaints and attending to all customer correspondence
- Commitment to creating a welcoming, memorable, and unique guest experience
- Ensure Michelin-caliber guest experience in all areas
Candidate Qualifications:
- 4-5+ years’ experience as a Beverage Director, Bar Director, Wine Director, Head Sommelier, or comparable beverage management/leadership role in a fine dining restaurant concept is required
- Prior experience developing and building out a beverage/bar or lounge program is required
- Advanced wine certification is highly preferred
- Opening experience is a plus
- High-service pedigree is required (Michelin, Forbes, James Beard recognized, or comparable fine dining restaurant experience is HIGHLY preferred)
- Advanced wine & spirits knowledge, including characteristics, wineries, regions, varietals, food pairings and service
- Proven track record of creating and developing beverage programs, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising & accounting
- A sophisticated communicator with high standards of performance together with excellent communication, problem solving and listening skills
- Passionate about the Hospitality Industry and Fine Dining Service
- Impeccable leadership and training skills with a passion for ongoing mentorship and education
- Creative and collaborative
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under time constraints and deadlines
- Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed
Compensation Package Includes:
- Base Salary in the $90-110k range DOE
