Growing high-end catering & events company is looking for an experienced, ambitious Catering Sales Director to join the team! This role will be instrumental in building out the sales arm of the business, expanding business opportunities into new target markets, driving revenue growth, and ensuring new and existing client satisfaction. Looking for someone with a strong rolodex and well-established relationships who can hit the ground running from day one. There is a lot of autonomy in this role, so an entrepreneurial, self-motivated mindset is critical. This role is based out of the corporate office in the San Fernando Valley, but candidates should have flexibility to travel locally and be on-site for bigger events as business dictates. There is a strong production team in place that will support with the majority of logistics for event execution. Catering Sales Director Responsibilities:

  • Research, identify, and pursue new client relationships and business opportunities through strategic outreach and introductions
  • Generate and secure new leads across the company’s various service streams
  • Meeting with clients to determine their needs and working in collaboration with the current sales team to exceed expectations
  • Networking internally and externally to obtain leads and build relationships with new, existing, and old clients
  • Create a positive, supportive, and efficient work environment for the sales and operations team in line with company culture and values
  • Develop catering sales plans for new target markets and long-term operational strategies, including conducting needs assessments and strategic planning
  • Evaluate the company’s current client base to identify opportunities for growth and support the sales team in expanding the volume of business
  • Maximizes revenue through expert promotion and relatability
  • Create and maintain a strong database of leads, future opportunities, and existing clients to ensure effective and organized tracking of new and future relationships
  • Work in close collaboration with the production team and ownership to ensure effective client follow-up both pre- and post-event
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends, sharing these with the team, and incorporating insights into business development strategies
  • Participate in regular company progress meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Attend events as needed and required
  • Understands the Los Angeles market – competitor’s strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with outside vendors while upholding brand integrity and company values
  • Contribute to a positive working environment and growth of the company as they grow

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Director of Catering/Event Sales, Senior Catering/Event Sales Manager, or comparable business development/sales role in the hospitality industry
  • Off-premise catering and/or event experience is highly preferred
  • High-volume, premium catering industry experience is highly preferred
  • Must have a strong book of existing contacts, candidates local to Los Angeles are preferred
  • Solid understanding of event revenue generation
  • Strong ability to build and foster lasting working relationships
  • Proven track record of sales performance along with marketing/prospecting programs that drive event revenue
  • Proven ability in leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to take on complex responsibilities with little to no direction
  • Creative selling ability to close on business and negotiate contracts
  • High energy, collaborative, and outgoing personality
  • Commitment to providing excellent service to guests and support to staff members
  • Can easily adapt to the dynamic needs of a multi-faceted business
  • Proactive with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Organizational skills, efficiency, and high attention to detail
  • Experience using Google Suite software and Microsoft Office Excel
  • Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with FOH and BOH team, VIP clientele, and vendors
  • Knowledge of basic safety, health and sanitation standards
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays is required
  • Must be able to travel locally and attend on-site events as needed

Compensation Package Includes:

  • Base Salary in the $110-140k range DOE + Commission
