Burgeoning artisanal bakery founded in LA is seeking a talented Pastry Chef to join their thriving team. Working creatively alongside the bakery’s passionate founder, this chef will operate out of their state-of-the-art commissary and maintain consistency as they continue to scale and grow. The pastry program delivers rich flavors with sourdough-based breads, an evolving viennoiserie program, and seasonally inspired pastries sourcing only the finest ingredients. With their product offered from brick and mortar, restaurants, and farmers’ markets around the city, the role requires full flexibility accommodating team schedules and bakery needs (including overnight). Pastry Chef Responsibilities:
- Create and innovate in collaboration with leadership new recipes, seasonal pastries, and programs for pastry team
- Ensure consistency and quality in the product as the pastry program scales and grows
- Actively stay abreast of market trends, guest feedback, and industry offerings
- Oversee and lead staff with care, dignity, fairness, respect, and recognition developing the team to grow to their highest potential
- Cost management of ingredients, labor, supplies and equipment as needed
- Administrative duties: scheduling, ordering, inventory
- Maintain a sanitary kitchen and ensure established food safety guidelines are followed
Pastry Chef Preferred Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Pastry Chef or 1 year as an Executive Pastry Chef
- Proven experience working as a pastry chef in high-volume acclaimed restaurants and/or ingredient-driven pastry production
- Experience operating a sheeter, mixer, proofer and industrial baking ovens in addition to all bakery equipment
- Time management skills to create production schedules and an efficient pastry program producing orders on time and avoiding waste
- Strives for perfection and has genuine passion for high-quality ingredients
- Leadership skills to manage the pastry program, including hiring, training, and motivating the team
- Flexible schedule: early mornings, days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Compensation includes:
- Base salary range: $80k-110k
