Popular restaurant group is looking for an experienced Catering Chef to lead the cooking operations of their reimagined offsite drop-off catering program, based out of Southeast LA. The role requires an organized chef-driven leader to oversee a small, efficient team and deliver on the high-quality culinary standards the company is known for. A passion for consistently executing food at an elevated level in a high-volume setting and the ability to drive others to do the same is key. Initial schedule is primarily Mon-Fri, shifting to include some weekend days, as needed, as the program expands.
Catering Chef Responsibilities:
- Ensure all food is consistently executed to the high culinary standards expected of the group
- Cook, assemble, and pack dishes according to established recipes, ensuring proper portioning and presentation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow
- Administrative tasks related to catering operations: ordering, receiving, quality control and inventory
- Proactively lead, mentor, train, and coach the team
- Create a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction
- Maintain a safe, hygienic, and sanitary work environment
Catering Chef Requirements:
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar management role in off-site catering as a Catering Sous Chef, Event Chef, or Production / Commissary Chef for a catering operation
- High volume batch cooking – familiarity with production schedules and the ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Competency with systems and computer programs
- Spanish-speaking ability is a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Organized and detail-oriented, especially with food quality, food safety and sanitation, and productivity
- Able to work flexible hours and days; including nights, weekends and holidays
Compensation package:
- Base salary in the $90k-100k range, DOE
