Bar Manager – Coastal Mexican Cuisine Hotspot Los Angeles CA
Salary: $80000 – $90000
Lively, popular, coastal-inspired Mexican restaurant is looking for a talented Bar Manager to join the team. A candidate with experience managing bar operations, training/developing bar staff, who also excels at guest interaction both at the bar and on the floor during service. This role will be a mix of bartending/overseeing the bar and being on the floor, while providing ongoing education and development for the staff. Other responsibilities include managing beverage inventory, driving sales, contributing to marketing initiatives, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences both behind the bar and when serving as the FOH Manager on duty. Strong cocktail/spirits knowledge and high-volume bar management experience is required. Bar Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee the FOH and Bar teams
- Willingness to work behind the bar and be present on the floor as required
- Maintain a fresh, creative, and inspired beverage program in line with the overall vision of the business
- Ongoing development and training of team members to ensure growth, knowledge, and professionalism
- Ensure consistency and cleanliness of bar and bar program
- Order, receive, stock, and inventory liquor, beer, and wine
- Develop programs/methods to increase efficiency of bar operations
- Maintain, support and promote company culture
- Take initiative and help to build business
- Contribute to controlling costs and maximizing efficiencies
- Maintain health, safety and sanitation standards
- Ordering, inventory and scheduling
- Provide an excellent guest experience and resolve all guest issues
- Hold the team accountable to high standards while remaining hands on and leading by example
- Ensure the team is well educated on the menu and bar/beverage items
- Hire, train, motivate and coach team members
- Oversee quality of food and beverage
- Assess employee performance and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities
- Understand and comply with CA labor laws
Bar Manager Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience as a Bar Manager, Beverage Manager, Bar Lead, Mixologist, F&B Manager, Floor Manager, Restaurant Manager, Service Manager, or comparable restaurant/bar management role in an upscale, high-volume restaurant concept
- Bar Management experience is required
- Strong experience in craft cocktail culture
- Creative and natural approach to flavors
- A sophisticated communicator with high standards of performance, problem solving and listening skills
- Ability to create strong relationships with guests, members, and staff
- Working knowledge of bar operations and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures
- Knowledge of Food & Beverage service, spirits & cocktails, creating and developing, cost control, labor control, and maintenance
- Must be high energy with a positive attitude
- Basic understanding of administrative functions
- High attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies
