Growing and successful group with a loyal following is looking for a talented Commissary Chef for their primarily Monday to Friday in-house production facility with experience in large scale high-volume production, commissary kitchens or catering. Organization and flexibility are key, as this chef will lead a small but highly efficient team. The company invests in its people and strongly believes they are the key to their success. This role is based out of Southeast LA.
Commissary Chef Responsibilities:
- Oversee savory food production within the facility ensuring production is on time and meets the standards of the company
- Oversee vendor relationships, purchasing, and inventory
- Maintain a positive work environment through effective, professional communication with other employees and managers
- Lead, mentor, and train a strong team
- Administrative tasks: ordering, inventory, scheduling, etc.
- Maintain exceptional standards of safety & sanitation of the commissary kitchen
Commissary Chef Requirements:
- 3-4 years’ experience in a management role (such as Commissary Chef, Catering Chef, Banquet Chef, etc.) in a large-scale production facility, commissary kitchen or high-volume catering operation
- Hands-on leadership and excellent communication skills
- High volume batch cooking – familiarity with production schedules
- Organized and detail-oriented, especially with food quality, food safety and sanitation, and productivity
- Competence with systems and computer programs
- Familiarity Kitchen Spanish is preferred
- A flexible schedule is required: early mornings, some nights, etc.
Compensation Includes:
- Hourly wage of $38/hour with an average 45-50 hour work week, so there is built in overtime for the role!
