A new opportunity from BMRS Hospitality Recruitment

General Manager for Porterhouse Bourbon & Bones

South Bay’s Newest Premiere Steakhouse & Whiskey Bar

Located in the heart of the South Bay in El Segundo, the most important 5 square miles in Southern California, Porterhouse Bourbon & Bones opened its doors in the summer of 2023. Taking over the former Second City Bistro space, the restaurant underwent a stunning transformation to give Porterhouse the perfect blend of both the classic and modern – an aesthetic that is reflected everywhere from the intimate, sophisticated interior to the serene patio area, right down to their diverse food and beverage offerings.

More than just a steakhouse, however – Porterhouse is both an answer to the often overlooked, tight-knit locale of El Segundo, and a tribute to a beloved pillar of the community. The restaurant is dedicated to the memory of Ron Porter, a close friend of the group of partners who came together to form the concept. A South Bay local himself, Ron always had a passion for cooking, which he mastered during his first career as a firefighter. He dreamed of one day owning his own restaurant and was always sharing his recipes and ideas with others within the local hospitality community. After an injury necessitated a departure from his profession as a fireman, Ron made the transition to real estate – where he was both immensely successful, and made a deep, lasting impact on the community through his charity work and commitment to giving back. Tragically in the fall of 2021, Ron lost a brief but valiant battle with cancer following an aggressive diagnosis only three months prior.

When the opportunity arose for a group of Ron’s closest friends to open a new concept together, they immediately jumped on the chance to finally give him the restaurant he had always dreamed of. A friend, family, and hero to all who knew him, Ron’s memory and inspiration lives on through the community and at Porterhouse, where his fireman’s jacket protects and watches over all who enter.

Since its debut, Porterhouse has been embraced by both locals and visitors alike, with their success earning them nearly 5-star ratings on OpenTable and Yelp. Their mission to gather people together through bold flavors and artisan cocktails is flawlessly executed through warm, guest-centric service and a classically inspired, thoughtfully sourced menu with enough of a modern twist to entice both a young, eclectic crowd as well as those who crave more traditional experiences.
