High-end, 5 star rated hotel in Los Angeles is looking for a dedicated Department Head to oversee all In-Room Dining/Room Service operations. Known for its glamour and style, this property offers world-class service and an impeccable experience to each guest that steps through its doors. Although this is not a particularly guest facing role, this person should have a strong understanding of contemporary luxury/lifestyle standards with impeccable organizational skills, a genuine love of hospitality, and compassion for staff. The Department Head will be responsible for fostering a positive, supportive work environment amongst the team of two salaried managers and hourly staff. Spanish speaking and union experience highly preferred.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and positively impact all areas of the business including: sales, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of all products served while upholding standards
  • Directing, coordinating, and evaluating team member and employee performance
  • Prepare work schedules, assist in bi-weekly payroll, lead daily shift meetings, and reports
  • Maintain positive and cooperative relationships with all team members
  • Foster opportunities for the team to learn and grow
  • Monitor and supervise the mini-bar department
  • Meet and greet guests and respond to guest inquiries, requests and issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner and resolve guest concerns
  • Monitor and assess service and satisfaction trends, evaluate, and address issues and make improvements accordingly
  • Continually strive to educate and develop of staff as it relates to food, beverage, and service
  • Creating a positive and fun working environment
  • Developing a positive relationship with guests
  • Set an example to the team by providing excellent hospitality and service at all times
  • Be knowledgeable of hotel policies regarding personnel and deliver prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements

Candidate Qualifications:

  • 2-4+ years of experience in a Room Service/In-Room Dining oriented role (i.e. In-Room Dining (IRD) Manager, IRD Department Lead, Room Service Manager, Room Service Director, IRD Director, or comparable title) in an upscale boutique or luxury hotel environment is required
  • Strong background in room service operations is required, preferably from a luxury hospitality background
  • Spanish speaking and union experience highly preferred
  • Proven track record in leading and motivating a team
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture, and set the scene for high performance
  • Process driven and able to implement operating procedures that will continue to maximize efficiency

Compensation Package:

  • Base Salary in the $80-85k range DOE
