Popular Eastside hospitality group with multiple concepts looking for a Sous Chef who will help to oversee a central kitchen primarily during daytime hours. Looking for somebody who appreciates the heart and soul of small thriving restaurants, and also has an interest in the systems and scope that are required to manage an effective, efficient large-scale operation. While this person will primarily be responsible for overseeing prep, the Sous Chef should love being on the line and working with the team while also supporting larger scope, administrative items. Sous Chef Responsibilities:

  • Ordering, receiving and maintaining food costs
  • Assisting with inventory every period
  • Assisting with R&D of menu items once a week
  • Creating prep lists for the staff and ensuring prep execution for PM shift
  • Overseeing BOH team and monitoring labor
  • Beverage prep for bar menus
  • Helping out on the line as needed
  • Assisting Executive Chef with building and executing systems and procedures
  • Working cleanly, efficiently, and with respect for ingredients while maintaining professional standards
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and service standards 
  • Keep equipment clean and in excellent working condition 
  • Investing in and motivating the staff to grow
  • Maintain a positive, work environment via effective, professional communication with other employees and managers 

Sous Chef Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working in a professional kitchen as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager for a minimum of 2 years
  • Experience executing multiple cuisines; familiarity with Italian and handmade pastas is a plus
  • Background working with chef-driven concepts
  • Vast knowledge of culinary techniques, procedures, and equipment 
  • Friendly, outgoing, energetic team player with a positive attitude 
  • Ability to think quickly and multi-task in a fast-paced environment 
  • Able to communicate calmly and effectively, both verbal and written 
  • Willing to teach and coach their team
  • Flexible schedule
  • Ability to work early morning shifts, beginning at 6AM
  • Enforcement of safety/sanitation standards and procedures
  • Food handlers license  

Compensation includes:

  • Base salary in the 67-75K range
  • PTO
  • Medical Benefits
