General Manager – Popular Sushi Concept Pasadena CA

$85000 – $90000

Acclaimed, high-end sushi restaurant is seeking a service-oriented General Manager to join the team at their Pasadena location! Open to greener candidates who do not have prior GM experience who are willing to step in and roll up their sleeves. This is a beloved location with low staff turnover and lots of regular guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong floor presence and ability to mentor the team while holding them accountable to high standards. Prior sushi/Japanese cuisine experience is a plus, but not required. An awesome opportunity for an experienced AGM looking to step into their first General Manager role and get in with an established restaurant group!

 

General Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the FOH team
  • Maintain, support, and promote company culture and philosophies
  • Take initiative and help to build business
  • Improve service standards and lead by example
  • Contribute to controlling costs and maximizing efficiencies
  • Maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ordering, inventory, and scheduling
  • Provide an excellent guest experience and resolve all guest issues
  • Hold the team accountable to high standards while remaining hands on and leading by example
  • Ensure the team is well educated on the menu items
  • Hire, train, motivate and coach team members
  • Assess employee performance and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities
  • Understand and comply with CA labor laws

General Manager Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of experience as a Restaurant Assistant General Manager (AGM), Food & Beverage Director, (F&B), FOH General Manager, FOH Floor Manager, or Restaurant Supervisor from a full-service, upscale restaurant concept
  • Open to strong AGM candidates without prior GM experience
  • Past sushi or Japanese cuisine experience is a plus, but not required
  • Passion for food, beverage, and guest service
  • Basic understanding of administrative functions and controlling cost of goods
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to analyze processes and information, identify problems and trends, and develop effective solutions and strategies
  • Commitment to providing exceptional service to guests and support to staff members
  • Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety
  • Computer proficiency, including the use of Microsoft office
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, and on holidays
  • Food safety certification
