Very successful and busy West L.A. restaurant is looking for a talented Executive Sous Chef to join the team. The menu focuses on local Southern California cuisine with an international influence. Everything is made in house using only the best and freshest local ingredients. The environment is very fast paced and requires someone who can think on his/her feet and adapt easily to the dynamic needs of a multi-faceted business. Executive Sous Chef Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards of the restaurant
  • Staff Management including scheduling, hiring and training
  • Expedite service efficiently and effectively, maintaining the proper pace and food quality
  • Understand and maintain all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs
  • Follow through with training and coaching to ensure that all policies and laws are followed
  • Maintain company expectations of food and service through the supervision of the entire kitchen team
  • Fill in where needed to ensure that the guest experience is never compromised, and their expectation of food and service are met and/or exceeded
  • Upkeep of all kitchen equipment and facilities so that health and safety standards are met
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests
  • Effectively Manage Costs and Labor
  • Create thoughtful food that fits the aesthetic of the restaurant

Executive Sous Chef Preferred Requirements:

  • 3+ years minimum experience in similar role (Chef de Cuisine, Exec Sous, Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef)
  • Experience in high-volume restaurant environments
  • Past experience in chef-driven concepts a plus 
  • Love for unique, quality, locally sourced ingredients
  • Passion for both food and guest satisfaction
  • Ability to remain calm in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
  • Highly motivated, passionate, and have a strong sense of humility
  • CA food handlers card
  • ServSafe certification
  • Flexibility in scheduling including working nights, weekends, and holidays
