Modern American Restaurant in the heart of Santa Monica is looking for an Executive Chef with ample creative opportunity! This neighborhood Tavern proudly serves up great cocktails with local and seasonally inspired cuisine. The ideal candidate has a passion for seasonal ingredients and going to the farmer’s market.

Executive Chef Responsibilities:

  • Menu development and recipe costing 
  • Ensuring that all food meets the highest standards of quality and consistency
  • Hiring and training of culinary team members
  • Maintaining proper ordering and inventory
  • Ensuring best practices for safety and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Keeping track of new trends in the industry
  • Participate in weekly manager meeting and follow-up on assigned ideas and/or tasks
  • Communicate with vendors regarding ordering, new product offerings, pricing, and all other product-related issues

Executive Chef Preferred Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar position (Head Chef, Executive Kitchen Manager, or Exec Chef)
  • Astute financial leader able to maintain food and labor costs in a seasonal environment 
  • Passionate and operations oriented
  • Love for quality ingredients, farmer’s market, and seasonal ingredients
  • Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety – this is hugely important
  • Proven methods in creating a positive and fun work environment
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, and on holidays
